Western Day!!

Robbie's preschool had western day today and she was fired up about it. She loves to wear her cowgirl boots and asked me to braid her hair in ponytails. I made her little bandanna dress but since it was so cold today we had to wear jeans under it. She was so cute!!

And yes, those are still Christmas cards hanging up behind Birdie. They look so cute up there and I just can't bear to tkae them down. They remind me of all the good friends and family we have that think of us at Christmas and when they're gone it'll just be an empty white space. Maybe by May I'll take 'em down...

Ice Storm!!

School was cancelled and the Metroplex was in a panic yesterday. We had quite a front come through and ice covered everything. Tuesday was just cold and rain all day but the temperature slowly dropped throughout the afternoon and evening and by morning on Wednesday we were frozen in. Jack was so excited to have his first "snow day" home from school and I was delighted to sleep past 6!

After the sun came out and it started to melt. It was still under a thick sheet of ice

Seriously?!?!

Why can't my kids sit and look "normal" for a picture? I guess this is our normal, for now anyway! Cute pics will have to wait, at least until we get some done by a pro!

Looking out my front door

Wow! So, since we moved into our home almost three years ago we've had a little problem with water collecting at the end of our driveway when it rains. No big deal, right? It rarely ever rains but when it does, the rainwater sits there for a few weeks until the hot Texas sun evaporates it away. And it collects leaves and mosquito larvae. And it starts to smell after a while and the neighborhood kids ride their bikes through it over and over and over again. So we called the city and they said they'd get right on it. A few months roll by and still no sign but low and behold we came home from school last Friday and they were out front marking the street with the flourescent paint. YAY!! They would start on Monday. I guess we didn't realize what a production it would actually be because we have no driveway anymore!! The street is completley blocked off to traffic and will be for the next two weekd while the concrete cures. And I swear they only hack up the street at naptime!!

Hopefully it will be over SOON!!

Christmas, round two...and Happy New Year!!

The weekend of the first we packed back up (never really unpacked except to wash laundry!) and headed down to Bryan to visit mom and have Christmas with her, visit and ring in the new year with old friends, meet up with dad for Christmas with him and take the kids on their first trip to Austin (which also happened to be the first time both kids pottied on the side of the road!). In Austin we went to our favorite restaurant Chuy's (the very first one), then to the capitol (yawn!), Zilker Park and then to visit Val in Pflugerville. We had a great time but are SO thankful to be back home and back into a routine.
